    Michelle Finds a Voice

    Sheila Hollins and Sarah Barnett,
illustrated by Deni Michelle Finds a Voice - The Book Coverse Redmond (1997)

This book tells the story of Michelle, a young woman with cerebral palsy who is unable to speak and so cannot communicate what she is thinking and feeling, to the very people who might help her. It illustrates what happens to Michelle and how she and her carers overcome these difficulties.

The story is told through pictures alone, with blank pages to allow each reader to make his or her own interpretation of the story. There is written text at the end to provide one possible interpretation of the story.

(The CALL Centre is distributing this book on behalf of Communication Matters)
