Repeat Filtering comes into effect after an input has been accepted. If Repeat Filtering is enabled and the user continues to hold down the switch after an item has been selected, then the item is repeated once after an initial delay (called the repeat acceptance delay); and again at regular intervals (called the repeat time) until the switch is released. Repeat Filtering is useful for any computer user and so it is built into most computer systems. There is also usually an option to disable this feature. People with physical impairments Users who have sufficient control to keep the switch pressed until repeating can begin will benefit from this physically simple way of producing repeated selections. For example, it is useful for moving the cursor letter-by-letter through a document. |
