Row-Column - Scan directions

The most efficient arrangement Row-Column scanning is one in which there are as many rows as there as columns, for example, 8 rows x 8 columns. However, since the computer screen is usually wider than it is tall, row-column selection sets usually have more rows than columns to make the most use of the screen’s width.

Some access software allow you to define the scan direction (e.g. rows scanned from bottom to top; items scanned from right to left).
