Simple scan is useful for:
- scanning a small number of items (up to 12, perhaps), for example, a menu of programs or facilities, tools on a drawing program, or ‘hot spots’ on screen
- introducing scanning to new users or for people with a learning disability because it is easy to understand and operate
However, with larger selections sets (e.g. containing letters of the alphabet), Simple scanning is slow and tedious because items at the end of the selection set take more time to select, and if the user misses an item the system has to scan right round again before it can be selected. |
